COVID-19 and the Construction Site
March 30, 2021

Eastern Valley Electric believes that safety comes first when operating on a construction site. Keeping our workers safe from COVID-19 is no exception. We have done our best as a company to protect our team, our job sites, and our families.

To work safe and maintain operations, we developed a “COVID-19 Exposure, Prevention, Preparedness, and Response Plan” to be implemented throughout the company. All our supervisors must be familiar with this plan and always set a good example of these protocols.

As well as the standard procedures recommended by the Ministry of Health, a few of the extra protocols EVE highlights in the plan are:

- Employees are encouraged to minimize ride-sharing. While in vehicles, employees must ensure adequate ventilation.

- Employees are encouraged to limit the need for N95 respirator use by using work practice controls to minimize dust. This includes the use of water delivery and dust collection systems, as well as limiting exposure time.

- EVE understands that due to the nature of our work, access to running water for hand washing may be impracticable. In these situations, EVE will provide, if available, alcohol-based hand sanitizers.

- EVE will divide crews / staff into two (2) groups where possible so that projects can continue working effectively in the event that one team must quarantine.

- Employees should limit the use of co-worker’s tools and equipment. If tools must be shared, EVE will provide alcohol-based wipes to clean tools before and after use.

EVE also provides gloves, disposable masks, and sanitizer if necessary to all employees. As we continue to work together during this uncertain time, we hope that these precautionary steps will do our part to prevent any further spread of COVID-19.
